I've finished another book. If You Could See Me Now, which I bought last Sunday at San Bookshop, I finished it! Wow, if you get your head down on it, it's pretty brief book.
Anyway, it's about Elizabeth Egan, an boring interior designer with no fun and games in her life. Everything has to have an order, everything has to be perfect. One day, Luke, her nephew met a new friend named Ivan. But the strange thing is Elizabeth can't see Ivan. She thinks Ivan is Luke's imaginary friend. But Ivan isn't just your regular imaginary friend. And his presence changed her life.
The interesting part is the book explains that Ivan's job is real. There are 'beings' that walks with us, infuse us with a life oxygen. At first, Ivan's job is to assist Luke, since he lives with his uptight aunt and his mother left him. But Ivan shortly fell in love with Elizabeth.
I personally don't believe that there are beings whose job is to be someone's friend. Imaginary friends made by kids, I think, is their growing creativity and how they create people with different characteristic, as long as it doesn't affect their normal life. A kind of adaptation to the different people they meet.
But Elizabeth's life changed after she saw Ivan. I think Ivan is like a ray of hope. A new way of seeing life, to live more and to be free. We shouldn't think about the problems in the world, once in a while we should just enjoy it. Embrace our loved ones, care about ourself as well as other people.
Guess what, the book is being adapted into the big screen, staring Hugh Jackman. Woohoo! I couldn't recommended enough.
My next book is The Queen of Babble Gets Hitched. I've read the first two books a long time ago and I managed to get the third one in hard cover and half the price. Super! Hopefully I finished it soon enough. Three more Women's Murder Club books are waiting.
